Description
On Saturday, May 10, 2023, from 10am-Noon (or until supplies run out), The Otsego County Child Welfare Alliance [OCCWA] will be distributing 60 infant and youth life jackets, FREE of charge to children who appear with their parent or legal guardian to promote water safety education and awareness.
Water safety awareness is incredibly important especially this time of year in northern Michigan. According to the CDC, More children ages 1-4 die from drowning than any other cause of death and it’s the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 5-14.
Sizes: We will have 20 jackets for youth 0-30 pounds, 20 for youth 30-60 pounds, and 20 60-90 pounds.
There are no holds, the distribution is first come, first serve.
Please note that the Otsego County Splash In is also occurring on this date and to enter the park, you must purchase a day pass ($4.00).
Parent or legal guardian and the child MUST be present in order for the child to receive a jacket.
This event was made possible due to funding from Children's Trust Michigan. The Otsego County Child Welfare Alliance is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation.
