Northern Michigan Warhounds Bring a New Era of Semi-Pro Hockey to Gaylord

Gaylord, MI —The Northern Michigan Warhounds are a new member and powerful addition to our community. Set to take the ice this fall at the Otsego County Sportsplex, the Warhounds represent more than just a hockey team—they embody a renewed vision for semi-professional sports in Northern Michigan.

The Warhounds come as a part of the American Premier Hockey League (APHL) and will host home games on Saturday evenings and select Sunday afternoons from October through April, bringing fast-paced, high-level adult hockey to local fans.

But this team’s story goes deeper than goals and game nights.

One of the Warhounds’ co-owners was previously involved with a past team in Gaylord. That experience—marked by lessons learned and opportunities missed—sparked a commitment to do things differently this time. The Warhounds were founded on three non-negotiables: follow-through, transparency, and community engagement.

Team co-owner Andrew Dibble—a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and current community educator—brings a deeply rooted passion for service into everything he does. His experience in both military and educational leadership has shaped a team philosophy focused on giving back, creating access, and investing in the next generation. Dibble understands the power of local connections and believes strongly in supporting area schools, honoring fellow veterans, and elevating the values that make Gaylord special.

Co-owner Megan Hacker, also a proud Gaylord local, shares in that vision. With strong personal and professional roots in the community, Megan is excited to integrate the Warhounds into local life and play an active role in many community-driven initiatives. Together, she and Andrew are committed to making the Warhounds a lasting part of Gaylord’s culture—both on and off the ice.

That sustainability comes from more than ticket sales. The Warhounds are launching programs that support youth literacy, health, and anti-bullying education, all while providing affordable family entertainment rooted in local values. The team is actively seeking partnerships with educators, nonprofits, small businesses, and civic leaders to strengthen its mission.

Whether you're a lifelong hockey fan, a business looking to collaborate, or a parent seeking positive role models for your kids—the Warhounds want to connect.
